Terrebonne Parish Roofing Permit Requirements
Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government (TPCG) Permits Division is responsible for administering building permits for all development within the parish, including unincorporated areas. A permit is required for any construction, enlargement, alteration, repair, movement, demolition, or change in occupancy of a building or structure, or for the installation, enlargement, repair, removal, conversion, or replacement of regulated electrical, gas, mechanical, or plumbing systems. This applies to roofing projects as well, with permits being mandatory for all roof construction and reroofing projects before work begins.
For properties in unincorporated areas, the TPCG Permits Division is the governing authority. It is crucial to contact the TPCG Permits Division to verify permit triggers and determine if additional approvals are needed for projects such as floodplain, coastal, drainage, driveway, sewer, historic, subdivision, or planning commission approvals.
The application process typically involves:
- Contacting the TPCG Permits Division to confirm permit requirements.
- Verifying the site address with the Terrebonne Parish Communications District.
- Gathering ownership and legal description information.
- Preparing a site plan and detailed construction drawings.
- Collecting all necessary supporting documents, which may include elevation certificates for floodplain areas, FEMA/NFIP nonconversion agreements, coastal use permit materials, health approvals, and State Fire Marshal review for applicable commercial work.
